Reader’s theater (RT) is often defined by what it is not — no memorizing, no props, no costumes, no sets. It involves children reading through reading parts in scripts. It emphasizes on imagination and oral expression on the parts.\u00a0As children read, perform and interpret their roles they acquire a better understanding of the literature.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The teachers would love to see the children having fun during their practice. With both parental and teacher \u00a0guidance, the students will be able to imitate natural speech from the provided links, \u00a0express their emotional interpretation of the story, add their own interpretation to the text, enjoy time spent practicing with their friends, and not just focusing on the results.<\/span>

Yes. The students may not have heard what RT is, but the teachers have always coached classes in reciting the sentences and short paragraphs with proper intonation and appropriate rhythm. It is a part of language teaching that can not be neglected. \u00a0To prepare the students for RT competition, the English teachers will introduce the following<\/span>

How can I apply for the RT competition?
\n\u6211\u5982\u4f55\u5831\u540d\u53c3\u52a0RT\u7684\u6bd4\u8cfd\uff1f<\/span><\/h2>\n
Unlike English speech and recital contests, RT contestants can only apply as a class, one team per class. According to the regulations of Taipei City English Competition, there can only be 8 to 20 contestants per team. Less or more students will not be accepted to\u00a0apply<\/span>\u00a0or to\u00a0compete\u00a0on stage<\/span>. This year, only 4th and 5th grade students will be able to apply for the RT competition.<\/span>

How can I find a RT script?
\n\u5982\u4f55\u627e\u5230RT\u7684\u5287\u672c\uff1f<\/span><\/h2>\n
Wenhua teachers have already chosen 4 selected scripts on the\u00a0website<\/span><\/a>. There are also audio and video resources of how the story can be performed and how other students interpreted the story. You may choose one story and add your own interpretation to it. If you don’t like any of them, you can discuss with your parents and teachers to have your own choice.<\/span>
