英文句子可以分成：問句、直述句以及答句等不同種類，乍看之下各種類之間分野相當明確，但是有時候我們會看到一個直述句裡面居然還包含一個問句，或甚至是一個問句裡面還有一個問句！這真是讓人摸不著頭緒，究竟是怎麼一回事呢？
其實英文中有一種句型叫「間接問句」，顧名思義就是「在一個句子裡間接再放一個問句」的意思。今天我們就一起來抽絲剝繭，看看間接問句究竟怎麼寫吧！
間接問句
在了解間接問句之前，我們先溫習一下之前學過的兩種問句：
該怎麼問？ yes / no 問句
該怎麼問？ wh- 問句
而間接問句的規則其實很簡單，只要秉持著「疑問詞 + 還原的問句」就可以了。現在就來看看各種間接問句的應用。
含有 be 動詞的間接問句
Why are you angry?（你為什麼生氣？）
可以看到問句形式運用了倒裝，因此動詞 are 在主詞 you 的前面。假如今天要跟 I don’t know 合併成一句，就要還原倒裝的句型，變成間接問句：
I don’t know why you are angry.（我不知道為什麼你生氣了。）
※ 原本在問句中倒裝的 are you angry，變成間接問句之後就還原成 you are angry。
含有情態助動詞的間接問句

When will he leave?（他什麼時候會離開？）
在問句形式中，助動詞 will 在主詞 he 的前面，因此如果要改寫成間接問句，就要還原寫成：
I don’t know when he will leave.（我不知道他什麼時候會離開。）
Can you tell me when he will leave?（你可以告訴我他什麼時候會離開嗎？）
※ 原本在問句中倒裝的 will he leave，變成間接問句之後就還原成 he will leave。
含有 do / does / did 的間接問句
有 do / does / did 的問句，如果合併成間接問句時，要將 do / does / did 捨去，並調整動詞時態。例如：
Where did you go?（你去了哪裡？）
如果今天要把這個問句跟 I knew 合併成一句的話，首先要將助動詞 did 捨去，而原本的原形動詞 go 要隨著句子的時態調整成過去式 went，因此會寫成：
I knew where you went.（我知道你去了哪裡。）
疑問詞為主詞的間接問句
如果問句是以疑問詞為主詞，變化成間接問句時，什麼都不用調整喔！例如：
Who ate my cake?（誰吃了我的蛋糕？）
變化成間接問句就是：
I want to know who ate my cake.（我想知道誰吃了我的蛋糕。）

答案：
